“China Metropolis Development Forum” was held ceremoniously
With the theme of “Exploring the Law and Trend of Metropolis Development”, China Metropolis Development Forum was held in Beijing Commercial Business Hotel on June 20th 2012. This forum was sponsored by CUEB and organized by AMESD and the Science and Research Office with the support of CBD Development Research Base and Beijing Economic & Social Development Policy Research Base. More than 80 teachers and students from various universities and institutes were present at the meeting, including Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Development Research Center of the State Council, China Society of Urban Economy, Beijing Academy of Science and Technology, University of Maryland, Renmin University of China, Beijing Technology and Business University, Beijing Union University, as well as Scientific Research Office, Plan Office, College of Urban Economics and Public Administration, School of Labor Economics, School of Safety and Environmental Engineering, Faculty of Public Finance and Taxation, School of Marxism, School of Accountancy, School of Economics, Banking College and College of Business Administration within CUEB.

Ke Wenjin, Secretary of Party Committee of CUEB, Zhang Zhuoyuan, Academician of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and Wen Kui, former President of CUEB delivered speeches. Wang Jiaqiong, President of CUEB and Chief of AMESD, CUEB, conferred Chief Expert Certificates of AMESD to Zhang Zhuoyuan and Wen Kui.

In his speech, Ke Wenjin pointed out that the metropolitan area and city clusters had become the main mode of world’s urbanization development with metropolis as their core which play a leading role in pushing forward their developments. He hoped the researchers can deepen the researches, exchanges and cooperation in related fields of China’s metropolis between CUEB and other social circles, making the “China Metropolis Development Forum” an influential high-level academic forum with its own brand.
The forum was hosted by Jiang Sangeng, standing Vice Dean of AMESD, CUEB. Yue Songdong, former Deputy Director of the Development Research Center of the State Council, Yang Chongguang, Vice Chief of China Society of Urban Economy, Yao Shimou, member of Urban Research Center of Nanjing Institute of Geography & Limnology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Ding Hui, Dean of Beijing Academy of Science and Technology, Tong Yufen, Vice Dean of School of Labor Economics of CUEB, Ding Chengri, professor of University of Maryland made speeches respectively on several topics, including “Urban and Rural Integration, Promoting Advantages and Eliminating Disadvantages: the Rational Decision on Exploring Development Law in Metropolis”, “Brief Discussion on the Harmony and Pace in Metropolis Development ”, “Innovative Development Mode in China’s”, “Two-Wheel Drive, Safe Development”, “Theoretical Reflection on the Bearing Capability of Metropolis Population”, “Reconsideration on Metropolis Development: Theoretical Progress and International Case & Experience”.

Ding Lihong Delivers Closing Remarks
Professor Ding Lihong, Vice President of CUEB delivered the closing remarks. He indicated that the most valuable part of China Metropolis Development Forum was “to provide exchange platform for scholars and provide suggestions for governments”. He hoped that leaders, guests and scholars could jointly continue paying attention to and supporting the construction of the forum, and make greater contributions to deepening theoretical research, promoting academic exchanges, strengthening policy reference and pushing forward China’s Metropolis Development.
