Organized by CUEB, Beijing Federation of Social Science Circles, China Research Society of Urban Development, International Politics Association of China’s University and Asian-Pacific City Seminar and sponsored by CUEB and Beijing Federation of Social Science Circles, the “2011 Urban Internationalization Forum” was held in Beijing from October 22nd to 23rd 2011. There were more than 110 representatives from 36 universities, research institutes, governmental agencies and social associations in the US, South Korea, Mongolia, Beijing, Wuhan, Xiamen and Taiwan etc. present at the meeting. 12 media, including Beijing Daily, Guang Ming Daily and Qiu Shi, reported the Forum and finance.sina.com covered the entire forum live.

Ding Lihong, Vice President of CUEB, hosted the opening ceremony.
With the theme of “Metropolis Management in the Process of Globalization”, the forum invited many experts and scholars to such issues as world city construction, public governance in urban internationalization, urban governance theoretical research and Beijing world city practice from international perspectives. The forum was composed of themed seminars and close-door discussions.
Professor Gao Chuang, Assistant to President of CUEB chaired the closing ceremony, at which Chen Zhichang made a wonderful conclusion. He indicated that Urban Internationalization Forum which had been successfully held for 4 years attracted many famous experts and scholars at home and aboard. Some academic results out of the forum were attached importance to and adopted by government and were highly spoken of by the society. Professor Ke Wenjin, Secretary of Party Committee of CUEB, delivered a closing speech. He pointed out that as the sponsor, we sincerely wished that we could make the “Urban Internationalization Forum” a sustainable, international platform with its own brand. The meeting came to the end in a warm academic atmosphere.
