Constitution of AMESD Academic Committee
This Constitution is formulated to carry out all kinds of academic activities and regulate the functions of AMESD, CUEB.
Article 1 The Academic Committee is an organization to set up the academic development objectives and plan for AMESD, assessing the researches of AMESD and determining future research orientations.
Article 2 The main responsibilities of the Committee are:
1. Formulating and revising the Constitution of the Committee;
2. Examining and deciding on the objectives and development plan for scientific research and discipline development within AMESD;
3. Deciding the key or collective scientific research projects, assessing other open research projects, and deciding the research projects, persons-in-charge of the task force and grants;
4. Evaluating the research achievement with regular assessment on the final results to see whether they are up to the expected goals, and rate them into four levels of “excellent”, “good”, “qualified” and “unqualified”;
5. Coordinating national important academic activities, national or international academic conferences within its field of study;
6. Reviewing the annual work report of the Dean.
Article 3 Structure of the Academic Committee
1. The Academic Committee is made up of experts within or outside of CUEB. Supplementation or adjustment can be made for the development need of AMESD;
2. The Academic Committee is composed of one Chairman, Deputy Chairman and Secretary General.
Article 4 Qualification, Appointment and Dismissal of Committee Members
1. The committee members enjoy a term of four years and must be replaced with a proportion of no less than one thirds in every term. If a committee member cannot continue to hold the position for some reason, he/she should apply to the Committee in written form. The committee will make additional recruitments for the empty positions unless the former committee member has held the position for more than one year.
2. The committee members are nominated by academic leaders of each research orientation, and will be recruited with self consent and approval by AMESD regular conference. The members for new term and supplement are nominated by the Committee, and will be recruited with self-agreement and approval of the regular conference of AMESD.
3. Besides the researchers from AMESD, the committee shall incorporate well-known experts and scholars of relevant areas home and abroad with no more than one third of scholars from CUEB.
4. The members of the committee shall age at no more than 70 years old in principle, much attention shall be given to young and middle-aged scholars.
Article 5 Academic Committee’s Conference System
1. The Academic Committee Conference adopts annual conference system.
2. The Secretary General manages daily work during usual days. The Chairman and the Secretary General can temporally hold part or whole committee conferences to discuss relevant affairs.
3. The conferences should be recorded by specially-assigned person, and the items decided on the conferences can be compiled into formal documents, printed and published after examination and approval of the person in charge. The issues decided at the conferences shall be carried out by those who are responsible and the implementations be reported to the main person in charge.
